Report of the meeting of the NSS Programme Officers
held at Animation Centre, Trivandrum on 3rd & 4th
Dr. Babu Paul, Rtd. Chief Secretary, Govt. of Kerala inaugurated the 2 days Leadership Training Camp held at Animation Centre, Thiruvananthapuram on 3.10.2007. He stressed the role of NSS in National Development.
Shri. Mohan Abraham, Director, VHSE welcomed the invitees. He opined that the NSS of the Directorate of VHSE should try to understand the activities being implement in other states. He also stressed the need of curriculum linked NSS Activities.
Shri. M. O. Pushpendran, Deputy Director (General), Smt. Anitha Sankar, State Liaison Officer, and Shri. Anil Kumar, Assistant Director, Chengannoor have delivered speech on the role of NSS in community development.
Shri. Sreedharan Nair, NSS Programme Co-ordinator expressed vote of thanks.
After inaugural session, Smt. Anitha Sankar. C, State Liaison Officer, NSS engaged in NSS Orientation Session. Dr. L. Thulaseedharan, Lecturer, S. N. College, Chempazhanthy took a class on “Leadership vision & Personality Development”. Another class was taken by Shri. V. Levakumar, Deputy Director (Curriculum) on “Curriculum based NSS Activities”
On 4th September 2007 Shri. Shri. G. P. Sajith Babu, Youth Officer, NSS Regional Centre, Trivadnrum engaged class on Avenues of NSS and Dr. K. Girish, on Adolescent counseling.
The Camp concluded in afternoon after the valedictory function.
Evaluation & Suggestions of Programmes by Programme Officers
1. TOC (Training & Orientation Centre) Pattern Training may be adopted in the Leadership Training Camps.
2. NSS theme basis activities may be introduced
3. Interactive session regarding, problems of Programme Officers and its solving may be introduced in camps.
4. Presentational of Programme Officers opinion/ views may be on debate basis

5. A Cultural platform may be organized for the Programme Officers are and when programmes are arranged in the camps.
6. Separate office room/cabin with a name board of Programme Officer may be provided in schools
7. Training to Programme Officers may be conducted in June every year.
8. A State Level Programme Officers meeting may be arranged
9. Many doubts arose regarding the unit level sponsorship.
10. A common class may be arranged for all students of the schools in any Saturday in a month.
11. Leadership training camp for selected volunteers may be conducted immediately
12. A booklet showing the bio-data of all Programme Officers may be provided
13. Identity card may be provided to the newly appointed Programme Officers
14. Separated Principal for VHSE may be posted as in the Higher Secondary for better promotion of NSS Activities.
73 NSS Programme Officers participated in the camp and 19 were absent.
